The basic deficiency in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense more or less bewildering, in one way or another.

In recent years, the region was a region where numerous South Africans would travel to to get away from the considerably confining policies on casino gambling (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. For these reasons, you would bank on something of an expanding location to accommodate that tourist business.

But, perhaps it is not all that much of a bewilderment. The region is certainly the most destitute over the world, having gone through a distressing civil war (followed by devastating floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This may make a region less of a vacation place, although there is today a inviting display along a couple of the state’s captivating beaches.

It is also true that regionally somewhat, casinos in Mozambique have had to partake with many others in the lately liberalized South Africa, including the prominent Sun City founded by the Kerzner family management.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines and also video poker games, five tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, along with a poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, as well as two tables for poker and punto banco.

It is thought that over time the full tourism industry in Mozambique will expand conclusively. While the local languages are, clearly, African, there is at the same time the remnant of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the new and growing origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldwide phenomenon. The country is considerably cheap (evidently, as it is really poor) and as above, has some of the most stunning beaches world wide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the kinds of features that make tourism management drool, and as the country advances out of its existing slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism blossom, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer also.

While the country is not likely to ever restore its disposition as a place for partying South Africans, as there are now other choices closer to home for them to engross in, the enhancement of a long distance tourism sector is being outlined. This would be to cater to Europeans hopeful for winter sun, as a break from the bleakness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. In addition, evidently, the most elite prawns (shrimp) in the world are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
